The radio series was a radio hit and led to several film adaptations. When Red McGibbon was jailed for his Communist sympathies, Jack Dorso attempted to make a solo Bullet feature Ready, Aim... Marry Me!. ("Ready, Aim, Marry Me")
While investigating Maggie's pregnancy, Michael refers to himself and George Michael as Red McGibbon and Bullet. ("Hand to God")
